This story has absolutely nothing to do with politics, and my apologies in advance to anyone who finds it offensive, but it reminded me of 2 classic lines from 2 of my favorite comedians. "The places where most people buy condoms -- Wal-Mart and drug stores -- are motivated by a business model that needs to maximize shelf space, so they offer few varieties. To complicate things further, there is no standard sizing for condoms..."a...

I realize I often times come off as sounding uncaring. Maybe it is a bit of the old-school in terms of education coming out. You can't help but listen to dinner conversation about work growing up without being affected. So, sometimes I come off as callous and maybe even a bit conservative. It's funny, I catch it from both ends. That's life in the middle I guess. However, today I wanted to talk about something...
Title 18, U.S. Code 2340 defines torture as "an act committed by a person acting under the color of law specifically intended to inflict severe physical or mental pain or suffering...upon another person within his custody or physical control;"USC 2340A defines the penalties:"Whoever outside the United States commits or attempts to commit torture shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both, and if death results to any person...
The latest scheme to make the Wall Street fat cats even fatter (with our money, of course), courtesy of their friends at the Federal Reserve:"During the financial crisis, it [the Fed] bought hundreds of billions of dollars of real-estate loans and securities from banks to reduce mortgage rates and ease the pressure on bank balance sheets. This, in turn, pumped hundreds of billions of new dollars into the economy, which has helped the banks-and bankers-to...
Saints win after a 43 year long drought. It was a great game, battled until the last minute.Good for New Orleans....
It's no secret by now that I've been disappointed in some of the actions of the Obama administration. None more so than their continuation of the Bush/Cheney policies of dealing with those accused of terrorist activities. I expected much better from a president who professed to be something of a Constitutional scholar, and the administration bowing to pressure over the weekend from those who are against trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and 4 others in New...
I am a really popular guy around these parts these days. With my clumsy use of the despicable Mr. Bauer I figured I should parlay this high popularity to put forth the following modest proposal. I want to talk about man loved and adored by all. He is a humanitarian and renaissance man. I am talking about the one and only Richard Cheney. He may have only advanced to the humble position of vice president,...
I started this off yesterday with a link to Mr. Bauer's comments. It seems that link brought a lot of people to the blog, but also brought a lot of anger. I love getting comments and seeing things go above 40, but this is too important a discussion to get off on the wrong foot. What was most interesting was to see many of us on the same side of the political fence argue with...
Last night I was watching The Daily Show and saw John Stewart poking fun at the Lieutenant Governor from South Carolina for his comments on welfare. Mr. Bauer apparently compared welfare moms to stray animals by saying if you stop feeding the stray animals then they will die off. The analogy can only be appreciated by watching that clip. John Stewart is obviously not paid to treat every issue with sensitivity and Mr. Bauer obviously did...
