With Shovel in Hand Steele and the RNC Keep Digging

Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele should have realized he stepped in it when the National Review advised him to "try thinking before you speak," referring to Steele's opening salvo following President Obama's nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court. Steele released a statement criticizing Kagan for her support of Justice Thurgood Marshall's speech in which he said that the Constitution as originally conceived and drafted was "defective."Had Mr. Steele taken the time to...
The Department of Homeland Security made a quick arrest in the attempted Times Square bombing after putting him on the No-Fly list on Monday.  Republicans took no time in finding something to twist into a negative - that the Pakistan-born naturalized U.S. Citizen was read his Miranda rights.  They overlooked the fact that the attempt was thwarted and the suspect was found and arrested swiftly. Former Presidential Candidate John McCain said that it was a big mistake...

Offshore Drilling Proposal Not Enough for Boehner

There's just no pleasing some people. President Obama proposes to open up much of the Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, and the North coast of Alaska to offshore oil and gas drilling and what is the response of Rep. John Boehner (R-Darque Tan)? It's not enough: "President Barack Obama's plan to allow expanded offshore oil and gas exploration won rebuke from the top House Republican on Wednesday. House Minority Leader John Boehner...
As only he can, Colbert explains in clear terms the "conservative victory" of the Texas State School Board's outrageous editing of textbook standards to eliminate subversives like Thomas Jefferson who coined the term "separation of church and state".  Texas has now become the  laughing stock on the nation's stage led by Neanderthals like Louie Goehmert, John Culberson, and Rick Perry, as well as religious fanatics on the school board like Don McLeroy and Terri Leo. ...
Just as the right scrambles to blame yesterday's plane crash into a building in Austin, TX as a left wing nutjob, about 600 people as of the time of this publication have joined a group called "the Philosophy of Joe Stack" on Facebook. The discussions on the page paint Stack as some kind of "hero" for committing an act of terrorism that " is no different than what was going on in this same land...

Funniest Commercial Ever

I was driving along minding my own business when I heard a radio ad that almost made me pull over and lose my breakfast. Unfortunately, I don't know how to capture such ads here, but if anyone has heard this ad and wants to throw it in here they can go ahead. Kay Bailey Hutchinson released this as and it might be the most brilliant one I've heard at the state level in years. It...
Pundits all over the political spectrum continue to turn the election of Scott Brown to Ted Kennedy's senate seat into this weird notion that Democrats should somehow start working with Republicans in a bipartisan manner. This rationale is irritating at best, because it implies that a) the Democrats weren't trying to be bipartisan in the first place and b) the Republicans would acquiesce to bipartisan efforts if the Democrats tried harder. Both are untrue....

It Fits: Simpleton Joins Fox Noise

In the most unsurprising story of the year so far, quitter Sarah Palin has now decided to put on a broadcaster's costume and pretend to be a commentator who actually has something to contribute to Fox Noise.  She debuted last night on Papa Bear O'Reilly's hatefest, and believe it or not, I actually held my nose and watched the interview.  Talk about nauseating.  It was quite a spectacle with the pompous interviewing the ignorant. O'Reilly...

Ted Olson's argument for gay marriage

The Conservative Case For Gay Marriage by Ted Olson is a must-read, no matter where you side on the issue. And I'm not just saying this because I agree with every word. :)Olson's article in Newsweek is a window into the case he is about to make against Proposition 8 in California.  It is a glimpse of the future and a shot across the bow of those who would use a tyranny of the majority to...
Over the holidays right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh suffered sharp chest pains and was admitted to Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu.  Rush despite his record for clean living (sarcasm intended) did not suffer any real medical emergency and was released a couple of days later.  Upon his release from the hospital, Rush never one to waste an opportunity to look ignorant stated to the press:  "Based on what happened to me here, I don't think...
