Perry Looking for Loopholes in Education Spending Requirements

perry_clown.jpgHow any Texan can even consider voting for this clown for governor--again--is beyond me. Of course, now that we don't have any voting machines in Harris County (how convenient) it could make his re-election a bit easier.

First he takes stimulus money allocated for education, cuts the education budget by the same amount, and puts the stimulus money in the state's "Rainy Day Fund." So to prevent that from happening again, Congressman Lloyd Doggett added a provision to the recently passed aid to states to prevent teacher layoffs that Texas must maintain its current education funding in order to receive our $830 million share of the $10 billion package. The Gov's response?

"Perry Chief of Staff Ray Sullivan told the Austin American-Statesman that they'll look for ways around the requirement that the Texas governor assure that the state would maintain a level of education spending for the next three years."

C'mon fellow Texans, wake up. Don't subject us to another 4 years of this embarrassment.

Amos,

With all due respect, you are a complete damn fool. If I were you, I would be embarrassed!

At least do your homework and make an argument that will appeal to people that actually know something. That BS has no effect on anyone but the blind stupid! In other words, people such as yourself!

Perry White? The editor of the Daily Planet? Superman's boss? He's running for governor? Who woulda thunkit?

Freudian slip there amos?

Governor Perry is a much better choice than Bill White, the man who advertises in the New York Times. Bill White would make Texas a sanctuary state like he made Houston a sanctuary city.

The only problem I have with Governor Perry is when he begged Obama for National Guardsmen and drones for our border with Texas.

Texas needs to follow Arizona's lead and pass a Enforceable Illegal Immigration Law. Bill White would oppose that thinking we are against Immigration when we are not, we are against "Illegal Immigration."

Think of the mass murders that was uncovered recently on the Mexican side of the border. If those people knew that Texas would enforce the law they'd head elsewhere to cross over.

So all things considered, I will vote for Governor Perry White and definitely not for a man like Bill White who advertises in a New York Newspaper for a Texas job and would make Texas a Welfare State depending upon Obama programs and handouts.

NOT making education our HIGHEST priority is gonna come back to bite us in the ass. We're already trailing MOST of the civilized and industrialized countries and getting worse every year.

Could very easily lead to our downfall.

I know conservatives are fond of saying we try to throw too much money at education and throwing money at a problem doesn't solve it. Let me speak in real terms. Our campus was barely acceptable according to the accountability ratings. So, we are busting hump to improve. During that process we have to cut more than a half dozen paraprofessionals from our staff. These are the folks that tutor our students in small groups. So, no small group tutoring. No one on one tutoring during the school day. In fact, we barely have enough to have one para per grade level.

Now, granted, I don't know how that compares with most campuses. I'm just saying that if we were barely acceptable with twice as many paras then how do we make it with half? Luckily, we (teachers and counselors) have guaranteed contracts or we would be out of a job. Where is our rainy day fund Rick?

Texans don't need no book larnin'...they needs GUNS! How yew gonna pertect yer famberly with a book? Besides, books lead to readin', readin' leads to THINKIN'. You know who else does a lot of thinkin'?

A-rab Mooselimb terr'rists! That's who!

The onliest book yew need is the bible, and that's fer thumpin'...not fer readin'. Preacherman'll tell yew what it say so why worry?

(never forget folks, these people think that the words "intellectual" and "overeducated" are INSULTS!)

The ubermensch are not the supermen they think they are...

They are in fact the opposite, dragging the world down with them. I guess in spirit they do meet some of the requirements, however if Nietzsche saw them he would be revolted.

The guy in the chicken suit and a clown should evidence themselves at all of Perry's appearances and speeches. Other than that, Shortstuff and Scott nailed it!

you know Perry is the kind of guy you just want to walk up to and slap. He has a lot in common with Sarah except Perry's mannerism of bobbing his head like a donkey bobblehead (much like Bush) is what really bugs me. Like I said earlier...you just wanna slap his ass!

I'll have to watch it...

Nietzsche wasn't all bad...it took the ubermensch to pervert beyond all human recognition his political philosophy.

All part of the neo-conservative plan to dumb down the populace so they can implement their fascist regime.

Watched an interesting documentary about Nietzsche and the Nazis. It helped me put more perspective on what is happening now.

These people see themselves as super human. They believe they are the ubermensch that Nietzsche purpose in the 1800s.

Nietzsche brought interesting concepts to the discourse. Some probably don't like him and find his philosophy revolting. His intent was to introduce questions that were shocking, and most people's reaction is understandable. However, he hit on something profound.

People like Perry and his fellow neo-cons see themselves as the masters of the human race. Exploiters who are destine to rule over the meek. Imagining themselves as the next step in human evolution they don't see anything they do as wrong. Passion and self-indulgence is their moral code.

"Convictions are more dangerous foes of truth than lies."
Friedrich Nietzsche

And on behalf of everyone else, I will gladly second Scott's pronouncement.

It's pretty damn embarrassing when Congress has to insert a special clause especially written to prevent idiots like Perry from pulling their shell game tricks.

EVICT RICK!!

On behalf of all educators I would like to offer a grand, "F*** you and the horse you rode in on Rick Perry." What an ass.
