"Newfangled Ways to Dress Up Oldfangled Bigotry"

Franklin Graham on President Obama's "problem." Also notice how Mr. Graham dances around the question of whether or not he believes what the president says. Graham launches into a sermon followed by a couple of "ifs" which says to me he doubts that the president is telling the truth.

Unlike Mr. Graham, I believe what President Obama says about his Christian faith because, also unlike Mr. Graham, I haven't been appointed judge over who's Christian and who's not. I guess that's a role reserved for the sons of well-known evangelists. Maybe it's another one of those "seeds"  passed through the father.

But above that I believe it doesn't matter. Who or what the president worships---if he believes in any particular brand of religion or if he believes in none at all--- makes no difference. We have a secular government with a specific clause in our founding document about "no religious test" to hold public office. Another often overlooked part of the Constitution by those who love the sections that suit their purposes and who very conveniently ignore the sections that don't.

So what's the method behind this madness of whether or not President Obama is a Christian or a Seekrit Mooslim? A madness that CNN feeds by having guests like Franklin Graham, by the way. One purpose is to give the right a wedge issue to deflect attention from actual issues like the economy, and unemployment, and the lack of Republicans solutions for either, other than the same old, warmed over tax cuts for the top 2% and trickle-down foolishness that's a proven failure.

But that's a secondary side-effect, in my opinion. Michael Eric Dyson hit on the real reason for the manufactured controversy last night on Countdown:

"The jumble of epithets that are being hurled with lethal intensity against Mr. Obama are nothing but the made-over bigotry of people trying to find newfangled ways to dress up oldfangled bigotry."

Shorter version: Muslim is the new N-bomb.

War on terrorists? Hah! These rightwing fools ARE the terrorists.

Fascism has arrived, singing the national anthem and waving the flag and draped in tea bags. God help us.

They are so willing to destroy the Constitution and all it stands for, to suit their own agenda.
I feel nearly helpless with anger and frustration.

We need to remember to VOTE in November!

It seems to me like the horror show is arriving fast. After the Twin towers and Pentagon were attacked, the media and government claimed we were going after "terrorists", now that the justification for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars have lost steam, they are making the shift to what we feared they would all along...out and out demonizing people of the Islamic faith. If there is going to be a "religious war" it's being propogated by one side..ours.

It's all being used probably to justify the forever war that we started in 2001. War for profit. War to enrich military contractors. The tail is wagging the dog now. Fascism is not coming. It has arrived.

We haven't seen the worst of it yet, and the full moon is in three days! The Howling will begin earlier..

These whacktards make me so angry, that they keep spreading their hateful LIES and BS......all I can say is, Mr. Graham may "think" he's a christian but I got news for him: one of the ten commandments says "thou shalt not bear false witness" and all of these mo-rons are lying through their damned teeth.

I so want to smack the stupid off of all of them.....they need smacking.

yeah, I missed that earlier...you're right but the real thing will triumph.

the submit button quickedned on me. I was gonna add that the truth and awareness of that begins at the 'point' of departure to the 5th dimension and becomes fully revealed in the 10th.

We are all one!

I have also considered the possibility that it would be useful to ban the last name "Graham" from being issued to the next few generations - just for safety...

The slogan for their quickening is, "There can only be numb" unfortunately!

On a more sane note...I agree and really don't understand where these people sense of social responsibility has gone...I'm phasing out again...Some people call it the 'quickening' and claim that major social changes are in the works.

Uthulhu: You most assuredly should...The sparks will fly...

I’d say it’s more like a powder keg. With a fuse that’s burning shorter and shorter every day thanks to the rhetoric of Graham, et al. And when it blows they’ll be the first ones to say they had nothing to do with it.

that's what I'm talkin' 'bout...The orange are part of the human strain with the only real difference being the color of complexion. If you ever see anyone in good health that appears blue, you can wonder about them as well. It is essential to realize that they can interbred 'naturally'.

I'm going to send Uthulhu over to have a heart-to-heart talk with Mr. Graham...

"The Orange"??? That guy is already on this planet in the House!

We don't want to overlook the meta-language underlying the entire stream of reasoning. I wonder what Junior would say if I stated that in print I've seen corroborated evidence that his father was a practicing Satanist (I hope I don't get sued). Nixon wasn't...he just might have been human. The 'seed' is a codeword for the League of We're Gonna Get You that runs through every government and religion in the civilized and NOT so civilized world.

I offer more proof (I didn't make this up...as if I could be so clever):

BERNARIANS
Inhabitants of the 'Bernard's Star' system. Although not much has been written about them, it seems that human beings at least in part control this star system, along with "The Orange". Whether the Saurians have any influence or not is uncertain, however some sources indicate a possible collaboration similar to that within our own SOL system.

Years ago Billy Graham was a fixture at the White House. After he got burned by Richard Nixon he stayed away for decades and then only got involved politically on a very minimal basis.
He learned the hard waya that religion and politics are mutually exclusive and always distort each.

Franklin Graham has been front and center most noticably during the invasion of Iraq when he made multiple derogatory comments about Islam.

Now he has apparently decided to seize the brass ring and be part of the group hoping to take back control of the country. He professes to be a follow of a religion that is based on love yet he is spreading fear through the use of misinformation. He is trading truth for power. Once again the end justifies the means.

I hope his lesson is a hard one and that we all get to have a long and happy schadenfreude.

Discussion between Billy Graham (BG) and Richard Nixon (RN) in 1972 during an Oval Office conversation about Jews in the media:

BG: This stranglehold has got to be broken or the country's going down the drain.
RN: You believe that?
BG: Yes, sir.
RN: Oh, boy. So do I. I can't ever say that, but I believe it.
BG: No, but if you get elected a second time, then we might be able to do something.

Same conversation about Jews in Hollywood:

BG: "A lot of Jews are great friends of mine. They swarm around me and are friendly to me, because they know that I am friendly to Israel and so forth, but they don't know how I really feel about what they're doing to this country, and I have no power and no way to handle them."

Franklin was right about one thing I guess; the seed is passed from the father - bigotry, hate, xenophobia, arrogance.

I know, I know. Quoting word for word what someone actually says is a vicious attack. Just ask Bill O'Reilly.

What about that other 40%? Maybe that 40% doesn't care...

It just occurred to me that before the Muslim seed idea, they tried the watermelon one on for size but it didn't bear fruit!

I still think we can frighten the Republicans with more of this "chicken and the egg" idea than we might realize. It takes a great mind like wombat to further expound upon that, though...

The last gasp before the melting pot boils over, eh? I hope that I live to see the day when the bigots are skewered and served up for the world to consume.

To put more simply. Muslim= not white. Christian= mostly white.
