Updated: I've been watching the feeds the last 2 days as BP has started its fishing job on the MC252 well. The quality yesterday was terrible, but today pretty decent. This afternoon, they ran into the BOP with drillpipe, then ran a wireline video camera in for first look. Depths on the feed are off from the well schematic, but it's clear they're in the blind shear rams of the legacy BOP stack now. It looks like a piece of steel up against one side, but hard to tell at this resolution. Rams were partially closed. They cycled the rams, and in the picture the left side opened and right side did not, at least all the way. They are inspecting now.
Finally, after 4 months, we are seeing inside the stack for the first time.
Update: While in the BOP they cycled two sets of rams, and it looked like only one side was working. After another attempt the feed went black, so I'm hoping they're just coming out of the hole and didn't do something stupid like closing the rams on the camera. Naw...they wouldn't do that.

Who'd promote their "findings" but promise their data
Two years from now when it's finally ready?
You suppose the advisor who touted those "findings"
Is in, just a little bit, over her heady?
Don't let them eat cake. Make sure they eat seafood.
Assure them Marie A. would have eaten the fish,

If they closed the ram on the camera, does that mean there is now more debris inside?
When I look at the live feed, I don't know really what I am looking for.
Everything looks a mess to me, with bubbles, oil, something that is spraying, and yellow hoses, that looks like that it has duct tape on it.
Watching the sea floor is interesting, at times. Wish there was camera's in different places for the public to watch.

What would be stupid about "closing the rams on camera?"
That would be "closing the rams on THE camera" as Bob originally said. That was pretty crucial for understanding the correct context. Closing on the camera, like smashing the camera with the rams.
The rams are like an automatic deadbolt system that cuts/smashes everything in its way as a last resort to seal the well/BOP in case of an emergency which obviously didn't happen and it looks like we have solid proof now. Just need to take the next step and understand why that last failsafe (among many others) failed and caused this horrific tragedy and disaster.

What are the "blind shear rams?" What is the significance of this? Did you mean "they're" instead of "their?" What do "closed rams" signify or a left vs right closed ram? (is that good or bad?). What would be stupid about "closing the rams on camera?"
How does all of this relate to the relief wells? Also, I heard from someone working down in the clean up effort that BP actually has missed in the first relief well attempt and is postponing the second. He said they have suppressed this story. Any truth to this in your opinion?
