Rachel Maddow on the 21st Century Southern Strategy

As I was watching Rachel Maddow's opening segment tonight it brought to mind this comment from Huey Freeman on this morning's post about the Shirley Sherrod firing. Huey wrote:

"...what I find to be the most troubling is the story that's not being covered, which is that the right is making a concerted effort play on people's racial fears to bring down the Obama Presidency...The right is playing a sinister game. Instead of trying to convince people not to like Obama because he's black, they're trying to convince people that Obama himself is a racist and that he's somehow favoring blacks over whites."

Prescient words. Watch and listen as Rachel Maddow lays out in detail exactly what Huey was talking about. How the updated version of Nixon's Southern Strategy is still working by stoking the fears of white people using the scare tactic of, as Maddow puts it, "the black people are coming for you." Only in the 21st century Southern Strategy the fearmongers have a propaganda machine under the guise of a "News" channel to aid and abet them in this "sinister game."

After watching this segment, isn't ironic that the billboard showing Obama between two dictators (Lenin and Hitler) referred to him as the one using FEAR...

Truth or accuracy has nothing to do with anything here. Any means to reachyour goal!

If it was the truth. The truth is sometimes hard to handle.

I was going to post this, today, too. Rachel Maddow's opening segment was a fantastic representation that called the right wing media to task for their irresponsible, reckless and divisive practices.
