Onward Republican Soldiers

God's Own Party is on the march. Sharron Angle, speaking to Ralph Reed:

Reed: Sharron, you really came, maybe not out of nowhere but the back of the pack to win the Republican primary here in Nevada. There is a new poll out this week that shows you leading Harry Reid by 7 or 8 points. How do you explain all this? Your now a national story, are you kind of overwhelmed by it all?

Angle: Not really. I believe that God has been in this from the beginning and because of that when he has a plan and a purpose for your life and you fit into that, what he calls you to he always equipped you for.

Ed Martin, Republican candidate for Congress in Missouri, during an interview on The Dr. Gina Show:

"One thing I like to say is: America is great, not because of our genetics. We're great because we created a place and space where people can be free. And they can choose Christ, they can choose to be faithful. They can worship, and they find their way to the Lord. And -- or some of them don't. We sure want them all to, but some of them don't.

Part of that freedom -- when you take a government and you impose, and take away all your choices. One of the choices you take away is to find the Lord. And to find your savior.

And that's one of the things that's most destructive about the growth of government. It's this taking away of that freedom. The freedom -- the ultimate freedom, to find your salvation, to get your salvation. And to find Christ, for me and you.

And I think that's one of the things that we have to be very, very aware of. That the Obama Administration and Congressman Carnahan [the incumbent Democrat]  are doing to us."

Martin then attempted to explain those comments with this:

"This election is an intersection election and I am deeply concerned that, left unabated, the current trends against freedom will force religion from the public square," Marin said.

"We have already seen our freedom of health care abolished and with that an encroachment on religious freedoms; for example Obamacare will make hospitals, even Catholic hospitals, provide taxpayer funded abortions," he said. "This goes against the Catholic religious belief."

Uh, Mr. Martin, I believe one the Top Ten is something about bearing false witness, better give that part another read. Maybe ask Ms. Angle, apparently she has a direct line to God.

LOL right...

The American version of the Taliban, hard at work.

I'm reminded off the movie Oh God where the character played by John Denver tells the Reverend Willie Williams that God wants him to quit using his name to get rich.

I'm way past tired of people like Angle, Ralph Reed, and Rick Perry using God's name to get votes.

I can honestly say that the toughest thing within the church and without is the notion of where the donation dollars (or tax dollars) go. In Houston, our last bishop decided to spend multiple millions on a huge capital campaign that included a new Cathedral. It wasn't needed and was largely a monument to him. The question then came from many of us as to whether we should continue to donate to such a person that could mismanage funds that badly.

I think those on the right feel the same way about our tax dollars. It doesn't make them right. I think most adults realize that far more dollars go to people that need it than people that milk the system. Yet, when you see someone milking the system it makes some people feel the same way I do when I saw my bishop spend donation dollars so selfishly. The question is whether you throw the baby out with the bath water.

One of the things I've learned the hard way is to be tolerant of all beliefs. I honestly believe these people believe what they say and they honestly think they are being good Christians. Calling them bad Christians or not Christians at all is equivalent to berating non-believers. You don't win hearts and minds that way.

RHM, the "religious right" is neither.

They are hijacking Christ and are turning what they claim is "Christianity" into the total opposite of what Jesus preached.

And people buy it because it feeds into their fears.

Two good books: "Crazy for God" and "Grand Theft Jesus".

I'm a Christian. Many of these republicans and *conservatives* claim Christianity, but I can't see it. Christ taught that the second most important thing we could do in our lives was to treat other people (he didn't mention any qualifications) the way we would like to be treated, and to love them, the way we love ourselves. He said that those of us who don't follow His rules (and that rule in particular) will be cast into Hell or IOW, a place of torment. John 15. He even told a story about a beggar who sat outside a wealthy man's house - Lazarus - and how, when both died, it was the wealthy man who went to Hell for not caring for and feeding the beggar (covered in sores! so I assume he needed health care too!). Luke 16.
So, the part I'm not "getting" is - if they are really Christians and they are against helping people, if only through their tax dollars, (it really doesn't make sense that they would help people with their church and then refuse people through their normal taxes, does it?) - if they are against "lazy" people, or "crack heads" or "dope fiends" or women who "push out babies" for "more welfare" - if they hate these people and refuse them help and they really are Christians - why are they not afraid of the judgment they will face?
Definitely there is a lie somewhere. Wonder what the punishment will be for using Christ to hide behind to do the Devil's work?

Good God almighty.

As I always say, who knew God was a Republican?
And not only that, he must be a WHITE Republican?

These people are fools.

YOUR RELIGION IS IN DANGER, YOUR CHILDREN WILL GO TO HELL.....ELECT MEEEEEEEEE!
