In a continuous effort to keep it classy among right wingers, Rush Limbaugh, Head of the GOP, yesterday offered the following commentary regarding the death of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner.

I'm not going to say he can't say this stuff, that's what free speech is for. I am just so pissed at the stupid asshats who continue to listen and support this garbage with their wallets. In a perfect world, Limbaugh's ratings would mirror Houston Dynamo attendance numbers.
Actually, I would put the score at 2-0, but who's counting. Rush has a history of doing this. He brings in race into discussions where it does not belong. Does it get our attention? Yeah, I suppose it does.
The question becomes whether we should believe anything he says or just view him as the court jester that makes an ass out of himself to get a laugh. Either one is fine, but you can't have it both ways. You are either a legitimate commentator or a jackass. Being a jackass is nice if you can get the job. The pay is nice and you don't have to worry about little things like checking your facts.

1) Yes, those comments are blatant, disgusting racism.
2) Obama wasn't president in 2008 and it was Bush's DOJ that decided not to pursue charges against the Black Panthers at the Philly polling place.
3) This was big news on HANNITY during the election two years ago (I remember I was stuck in a car with a right wing nut that made me listen!) Why in the world is it being brought up now?
4)The Bush administration DOJ chose not to pursue similar charges against members of the Minutemen, one of whom allegedly carried a weapon while harassing Hispanic voters in Arizona in 2006
5) Although the Bush DOJ dismissed this incident, the Obama administration and DOJ DID seek an injuction, "Based on the careful review of the evidence, the Department concluded that the evidence collected supported the allegations in the complaint against Minister King Samir Shabazz. If you did not already know, which I'm pretty sure you do, it is about the New Black Panthers and Eric Holder(under direct orders from Barack Hussein Obama no doubt) recently refused to prosecute King Samir Shabazz for his role in intimidating voters during the Presidential election in 2008.

Catfish Hunter, Sparky Lyle, and Don Mattingly certainly weren't black and he made them millionaires. Arod is the highest paid player in baseball. He's not black. Roger Clemens, Andy Pettitte, and Mariano Rivera are also not black and millionaires. In point of fact, you could probably list prominent African American Yankees on one hand. Like Kel just said, why bring it up? The fact that this even occurred to him means he is either racist himself or trying to incite the racists in his audience.

Are you implying this statement is not racist?
a) The term cracker is a racist term for white people, who as slave owners, used to crack whips on the back of blacks to make them do their dirty work.
b) "made a lot of African-American millionaires" implies that it was Steinbrenner that is responsible for the millions they made (and that they made for him) rather than their own hard work and merit. It feeds into the same concept Rush introduced a couple of weeks ago that Obama wouldn't be President if it wasn't for the graciousness of white folks who voted for him because he was black, or that Oprah wouldn't be famous if she wasn't black. The theme that even when black people prove they can do something extraordinary it's really only because the white people let them. It's racist, it's demeaning, and it's obvious to anyone who doesn't stick their fingers in their ears and sing "lalalalala".
c) Why bring up race at all, Rush? What about Steinbrenners death inspired the racial element of the commentary? Instead of questioning why it's racist, maybe question why the hell he brought race into the mix in the first place. What purpose did it serve?

Never to forget: Steinbrenner did NOT make a singlle player (black or white) a millionnaire out of the kindness of his heart or to do them a favor!
He only did so HE could to profit from the deal!
