I am a racist. Updated.

I am a racist. I admit it.

I can't stand so many of these old(er) white men who sit on their asses collecting a paycheck they don't deserve while people under them with no power or authority, but a heckuva lot of responsibility for P&L, lose their jobs as a direct result of what the old(er) white man did or didn't do.

I can't stand the fact that in Corporate America, it can be a joke that an old(er) white man can be the "quarter of a million dollar man" who does nothing and offers no return on the investment, yet he keeps his job while an administrative support person making $30K and keeping the office together loses their job. How very Peter Principled.

I can't stand the fact that so many of these old(er) white men feel no remorse, and adopt a condescending attitude about the "peons" who work under them.

I can't stand the entitlement mentality that so many of these old(er) white men have, especially if they have been in a bureaucratic or Corporate Titan environment for any period of time.

I can't stand the fact that so many of these old(er) white guys still get their annual bonuses, sometimes in the millions, while those under them lose their jobs, their homes, their benefits, their self esteem.

I can't stand the fact that so many of these old(er) white guys can talk about lowering corporate costs by sending work to India or Indonesia and tell you with a straight face that that will allow you to do more work here in the US and keep your job. Are we all supposed to be village idiots?

In this economic atmosphere, how do certain people sleep at night or look at themselves in the mirror every day?

I'll tell you.

They have no guilt, no remorse, no feelings, no single thought ... E.V.E.R. for the folks under them who struggle in front-line positions and the now-elusive middle management positions to make it happen for the company on a daily basis.

They feel no compunction whatsoever to teach or mentor these young whippersnappers who are "hooked" on technology they don't understand and refuse to embrace, unless it's a solitaire game on their office computers.

We have bred a new welfare generation.

Unlike the historic government welfare programs that are continually maligned by the rabid right because they have largely benefitted a different demographic, this one has put us all in the poorhouse to the tune of trillions of dollars in an extremely short period of time - more in fact than was achieved in the entire history of welfare programs, ever.

If you view the site below, you can see that in many cases the return on investment (ROI) from the bailout dollars decreases exponentially depending on the size of the organization that was bailed out. It doesn't take an economics professor to see that this could be an issue.

What that indicates to me is that entitlement has a new face, and it's that of an old(er) white guy from AIG, FannieMae, GM, etc. How ticked off were you when you found out the AIG guys still got their bonuses--after the bailout, hmm?

As US citizens, we need to demand that we get a better ROI from our tax dollars and from the slave owners in Corporate America that we work for, or we should find a way to fire these melon farmers. Seriously, they suck.

If you want an overall view of where we are today, look here:

Here's an interesting view of the total tab of the bailouts that were initiated under the previous administration:

Interesting historical perspective on bailouts here:

Still think trickle-down is working for us? Really? Did you get that loan that you needed for ... ?

Care to join me in my racism?

Update: I guess it should go without saying that I can't stand these old(er) white guys who sit on their bully pulpits as "media commentators" and eschew the empty puffery of their own narrow opinions which are neither fair, balanced, researched in any way, nor contain any form of "integrity" whatsoever.

But I said it anyway.

I'm with Voice and Shortstuff. My industry is dying a slow and painful death as far as the average worker is concerned but the good old boys keep getting richer.

Hoo boy, I'm in the same club as you. As one of those "peons", I agree with you, Voice!

Why is an older man younger than an old man?

As I get older and whiter, 'cause I don't hang out in the sun for melanoma holidays anymore, the only entitlement that I cling to is the right to go completely and utterly bonkers at the moment of my own choosing! A man must hold inviolate such sublime passage...

The five words that preceded this phenomenon..."It is a business decision."

This excuses one of all guilt or ethical responsibility.

I'm with loma, you're not racist, just a realist. Maybe a populist? :)

Voice - You are a realist, not a racist! Come now!!!
