good again eljefe - hope BP doesn't mess up the pressure test.

Actually, the sales will be from BP Exploration or BP America which are incorporated here and wholly owned BP subsidiaries. It would be very difficult for BP to repatriate those funds back to the US. It will be trapped here. AND American companies will own the assets going forward.

While sale of assets will help BP meet its obligations to the 20B$ fund, you seem to saying it is also a realignment of business and capital out of the US market and legal system. Is this also a smart strategy making it harder for US claimants to collect from BP in the likely event the 20B$ fund proves insufficient in the long term?
