It's all part of a vast conspiracy

You've heard about the meeting that will take place today between Gen. McChrystal and President Obama, but what you may not have heard about is the conspiracy behind the General's remarks that lead up to this meeting.

1. Al-Qaeda had this planned all along as part of a fatwa that was issued during the first Gulf war, and then restated when the war in Iraq began. Anything to discredit an American president, and make the military look like knuckleheads!

Or ...

2. BP made McChrystal an offer he couldn't refuse by paying him a HUGE amount to say disrespectful things and retire and take the heat of them for the ongoing fiasco in the Gulf Coast.

Or ...

3. The Teabaggers have convinced McChrystal that he can become the REAL Commander-in-Chief and have brainwashed him a la the Manchurian Candidate so he will run for office in 2012 because Palin really has become too much of a maverick herself and they really can't even stomach the idea of a "hot, vapid chick" in office.

Or ...

4. SNL needed some headline-grabbing material for their season opener and got a doppelganger to say those crazy things so they could write a skit about it.

Or ...

5. McChrystal has found out he has a terminal disease and didn't get the rectal craniectomy in time to save himself.

I'm betting on the fifth, but the first four will probably make the rounds.

What's your theory?

You guys are funny. Both BP and McChrystal were big Obama supporters.

I'm sure there are respect issues but that will come with anyone that didn't serve. Bush didn't really serve either. In fact, his father was the last president to serve in any real capacity. This will happen as time moves on. You must respect the office.

vietvet1975: Apparently you are a veteran...With that you know as well as the next military person that you do not publically say anything against your commanding officer. My father was told when he was released from the service to go back in society, work and be productive, and not carry your war wounds around looking for a pity party. He did just that! Mc Chrystal was DEAD WRONG and got exactly what he deserves. He will probably piss and moan about it in his book and that is right and like minded will buy the book. I can be rest assured not all men and women in the military 100% agree with their commanding officer or the Commander in Chief. To believe that-keep on drinking your Kool-Aid. With that I am sure others in charge did not agree with every president the served under. The difference is that Mc Chrystal opened His mouth and spewed utter vile and that is not the way to elicit the troops to be unified and he is no longer qualified to serve. END OF STORY!

McChrystal and his merry flock of RW-nuts are not the normal military. Never will be. No matter how much they pretend.
Let them go work for Blackwater, or EZ, or whatever name-da-jour they conjure.
These wing-nuts should never have been let in the military; but since places like AFA have been breeding them they find their own pockets of one another.
Theyre all cracked in the head.

vietvet1975: Just because you do not like President Obama does not mean all military do not like or trust President Obama. I personally know some that welcome the presidency of Obama.
Mc Chrystal was dead wrong when he opened his mouth to the Rolling Stone. I suspect he was probably drinking as well. Lose lips sink ships and with that Mc Chrystal sunk his own ship and sailed his career down the drain. My father was a WWII Navy Veteran and always shared with us his time in the Submarine Service. I would ask him how he survived in such close quarters with his Captain. His direct and never failing answer was in the military you never, I mean never would go against the directives of the Captain nor would you ever say anything derogatory about him. When asked what would happen the response was there was the brig and it was an area about the size of a small closet and bread/water served 3 times a day.
I expected way more of Mc Chrystal and this is not who I would want in charge of troops.
I am sure Mc Chrystal already is working on a book- I am sure you will enjoy it!

He gets four hours of sleep a day, runs seven miles every day, and eats one meal a day.

That doesn't sound nourishing for a body and mind under pressure.

His routine punishes his body. And probably the mind, too. Maybe he just got tired.

all plausible, intriguing theories:) however, it's probably much less complicated. my guess would be a mid-life crisis. mc crystal despises obama, and just like joe "you lie" wilson has had to suck it up until it just had to come out. rolling stone is no stars & stripes lol... seriously, it was a brilliant move naming petraeus, nipping the GOP in the bud so to speak and basically working them into a corner on this one. i do worry about petraeus calling in his favor for pulling out a win for obama on this later on, if that favor is something like mega-more troops, extending the withdrawal, etc. it does seem a bit odd that someone like mc crystal could get "liquored up" and party with rolling stone, accidentally talking smack about his superiors in the process. but that seems to be exactly what happened.

Then again it coule be that McChrystal and his staff had a Limbaugh moment.
