The former Alaska governor was at herdim-witted homespun, folksy best at the Tea Party in Boston yesterday. She was leavin' out the g's and firin' up the faithful. There was a "you betcha," a "shoot," and of course the very original "you can keep the change" thrown in for good measure. All from what the reporter at the Fox affiliate in Boston called "that unmistakable voice." (Gotta agree with eljefebob, that's the best Palin impersonation I've heard.)

Desperado, thanks but no thanks on listening to another Palin speech. For once, I can disagree with Carguy. I think she is definitely in it for the money, but, of course, she enjoys all the adoration she receives from the Teabagger folk. From the days from when she was mayor of a little crappy town with great views, she has watched for money for herself. Many in Alaska think the windows and such for her house were built with "leftovers" from the big Sports Complex she had the city build, leaving the city with $20 million in debt. While governor for almost 2-1/2 years, she charged the state per diem for living in her own house, as well as for trips for her children. She had to repay the state for the childrens' airfare. She has a trust set up by friends to collect money (more than $1million)for "legal fees" or anything she wanted, which has never filed any of the disclosures required by law. Her SarahPac is being used as her own personal piggybank - it paid for most of the expenses on her book tour, and pays for many "consultants." A very small percentage is being given to candidates she supports. Recently she was caught for not paying property taxes on a couple of cabins in the wild built while she was governor. Some Alaskans are sure that when she quit the governorship, she'd already made her deal with Murdock on the book and Faux Nooze. She is a grifter, taking advantage of any opportunity that comes her way.
No, $arah is in it for the money, but sure loves the attention too.

I am going to break with my esteemed colleagues aH and Shortstuff, probably for the first time. I do not think Palin is a "phoney". I also do not think she is an "opportunistic..huckster."
I think she IS exactly what she APPEARS to be. A woman who is massively misinformed, misguided, and ignorant. (Not stupid) She grew up in a little political and social "bubble" where she resides to this day. She's been GIVEN the stage by a bunch of people who are just like her. (Maybe, not quite as bright.) And they like what she has to say. She has that "folksy" thing working for her big-time. She is attractive and funny.
Does she want to capitalize on this "fame and fortune"? You betcha. But is she in it for the money? I don't think so. I think she would do this for FREE. I think she honestly believes everything she says. Most wingnuts do. Emphatically.
And yes, John McCain deserves all if not most of the blame for unleashing this "plague" on our society.
