Activism is In the Eye of the Obstructionist

Contortionist.jpgA Ringling Bros. contortionist would be envious of the positions which President Obama's obstructionist opposition are able to assume on a variety of issues. Take the upcoming nomination of a replacement for retiring Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens for instance.

Daniel Foster at National Review Online wrote yesterday (emphasis mine) :

"...the Obama administration seems to think it doesn't matter just how liberal their liberal nominee is. They're looking for a fight no matter what -- which virtually guarantees that they'll get one."

THEY'RE looking for a fight. This is the same NRO which on April 9 opined:

"...the question for conservatives will be not whether but how to oppose Obama's nominee."

Who's looking for a fight again?

The April 9 piece also trots out the familiar hot-button phrases like "liberal activism" and "judicial liberalism" which bring with them "liberal policy outcomes." Pay no attention to the corporatist activism and judicial corporatism of the Roberts Court, and corporatist policy outcomes such as those resulting from decisions like Citizens United v. FEC, coming soon to an election near you. It all depends on which side is doing the "activismizing," apparently.

 Ezra Klein had it right:

"President Obama could nominate the guy on the Quaker Oats box and Glenn Beck would find a way to connect him to Trotsky on his blackboard ("you know who else liked oatmeal!?")

Are redos allowed?

Maybe because they otherwise wouldn't have one?

Maybe because they otherwise wouldn't one? Inquiring minds want to know.

I could make a truly dirty joke from that.....but there's ladies present

Well, if the name fits...

why are so many conservatives named Dick?

You are usually right. But, I must say one thing. Among other things, these people are cowards. They may "join" a militia, but put their life on the line. NO WAY. You yell "BOOM" and they're making a fast 180 and all you'll see is their butt cracks above their belts.

Right on Des! AstrosGirl - I think you give them too much credit - I'm still hearing 18%. LOL. Shortstuff look no further for Ms. Russell's group than Dick Armey - he's been cashing in on Texans his whole adult life...You can't miss him - he's the one that lives in Washington wearing expensive suits except those days when he needs to be a "texan" and he dons the big black cowboy hat. At least he got the color right...

Unreal.
They really are blackhearted bastards.
And I firmly believe that there is someone - or probably many someones - whose primary goal is the destruction of America. We need someone like Woodward and Bernstein to ferret out just who is behind all this TeaParty bullshit. Who - using boatloads of cash - is eerily guiding people to believe that they have a right to overthrow their duly-elected government.
I fear a civil war.
These people are stupid. They are ugly. And they are dangerous.

How do 20% of the population still buy into this bull shit?

Ain't it the truth. Up is down, left is right, and the sun rises in the West. The universe of the (dis)loyal oppposition.
