Tea Baggers to Hold "National Day of Strike" on Obama Inauguration Anniversary

In an effort to give me more reason to make fun of them, the tea party patriots are going to boycott something, likely socialist in nature, on the anniversary of the inauguration of President Barack Obama on January 20th.  The Tea Party Patriots.ning.com teabaggers note that, while this is not a project of the tea party patriots, the "National Day of Strike" will "cripple" people and employees that support the "leftist agenda in every major city, every congressional district and every small rural town in America."

Over 3,000 people (roughly the population of Cy-Fair High School) are signed up to strike against.. who, exactly?  (Might I remind them that Obama got almost 70 million votes? That's like Seventy-Thousand Thousand votes!)

Well, that information isn't available just yet.  I assume they mean big conglomerates like oil companies, fast food giants like McDonalds, any company owned by Warren Buffet and/or Bill Gates and/or Steve Jobs?  Are they going to all walk in unison from their positions as greeter at Wal-Mart?  The only company mentioned is MSNBC, and i'm sure the 3,000 signed up for this won't be watching, anyway.

And..um..don't teabaggers hate unions?  Because they employ tactics to get their way  like, oh, I don't know, striking?  I guess this is another example of "Do as we say, not as we do" - Unions are the root of all evil, but when they exhibit the same behaviors and use the same tactics, it's patriotic.

Many factions of the teabagging crazy, I mean craze, have declined to participate in the National Day of Strike.  I tell you though, if I was GE or Microsoft, I'd be really really worried that these 3,000 folks might not do business with me (or say they won't) for a day..

good info. i joined "teabusters" on FB, so i'll check around for a meet up on the 20th. if none are found i just might "strike" one up myself:)

I'm not 100% in agreement with you but that is an excellent post and you make several excellent arguments.

I visited New Zealand and they really have their shit togehter "down" there. Politically, economically, and socially. Spent a week in one of their hospitals. On their nickle. Good medical care. Only difference from here is IF you use government sponsored healthcare, you stay in a "ward" with three other people. BUT, YOU GET YOUR own TV. Damn fine looking nurses. Better than here.

Can you say "reality disconnect syndrome"?

Kudos to Mr. Bonello. Wish I'd written that myself. Fantastic.

I don't think they have sufficient intellect to pull off an effective terrorist attack of any kind.

I suspect this will be similar to the "walkout" we had planned in my high school in 1968 to protest the VietNam war. It was originally scheduled for Noon..................

We later changed the time to 3:00 P.M.

On the cited teabag link, there is a posting by one David Bonello that gives a reasoned response to the upcoming teafest. No hysteriacals. You-all may not have seen it since it is only about 1 hr or so old.
Haven't seen any response to this yet from the baggers.

"For one thing, Socialism is NOT a form of government, it is an economic system. Socialism in Europe is Democratic, not Tyrannical. I've lived there. I've also lived in Israel, which is also a democracy, a social democracy. The quality of life in Israel is very high. They have some of the best schools and universities on the planet. Your computer wouldn't even work if not for technology developed in Israel. My cousin sells the pill with a camera inside that takes thousands of photos while passing thru your digestive system. It was developed in Israel. They have universal health care in Israel, and the poor live in homes, though because of the world economy taking a dip, suddenly Israel has homelessness. However, they're doing something about it.

In Germany, the wealthy hired lobbyists to go to the Parliament and ask them to RAISE their taxes. They saw too much poverty and homelessness and crime. They are willing to pay higher taxes to improve the "quality of life" in their country.

Whereas in America, since the form of Capitalism most here seem to support (supply side, top down, trickle down) started under Reagan, wages have stagnated, the middle class has weakened, homelessness and poverty have risen, and the gap between the wealthy and the poor increased to the largest in the industrialized world, beating out even Russia and Mexico.

The American dream moved to Europe during this period. They have universal health care, a 35 hour work weak, minimum of 2 month paid vacations, affordable education, and a livable pension (remember pensions? anyone here got one?). Upward mobility in Europe is higher than it is here to.

In America, the American Dream is just that: a dream.

This "Strike" isn't going to work. Your grand kids don't fear socialism. They see what is happening in Europe, and they want it. You might as well try to talk to them about Elvis. They want the American dream back, and I don't blame them."

Carguy;
I immediately thought of the greeters at Walmart. Or the ones in the videos who obviously don't work at all. Are they going to leave their couches and go to work for a change ? Even if 300K go on strike who the hell would even notice.

What my brother said. ;-)

This is going to be fucking hilarious.

Boy.....I don't know what to do. I think we should all hunker down in our homes. Stock up on water and Spam. (Hey, I LIKE Spam) and wait for this demonstration to pass, which it will. Afterwards, we will just have to deal with the economic disruption and destruction as best we can.

What's gonna happen when people "walk off" the job at nucleur power plants, water treatment facilities and.....Arby's. My God. NOT Arby's. Oh the humanity..........

I've always suspected that teabaggers were idiots, and they sure never miss an opportunity to prove it!

From the link:

On January 20, 2010 we will demonstrate our power and reach to those companies who employ individuals backing the leftist agenda in every major city, every congressional district and every small rural town in America to spread one unified message. That message is simple: Stop funding socialism. When they refuse to stop backing the major opponents of Liberty, liberal media outlets and socialist leaning elected officials, then we proceed to financially cripple them. [bold mine: m]

Economic terrorism?

I love this country...and I'm not being sarcastic, I really do...in America you can give yourself a silly name like "teabagger", use words like "leftist" and phrases like "socialist agenda" without having any idea what they really mean.

Pass the popcorn; they're getting more damn amusing by the day.
The funniest part is, they think they're the majority. Someone needs to clue Sparkle on what a majority actually is.

yep, dey crazy alright.
