On This Week yesterday, George Will responded to former VP Cheney's charge that the Obama administration needs to "stop dithering" on Afghanistan with what should be the standard reply to anyone from the Bush administration who has the temerity to criticize President Obama as he deliberates the significant troop increase requested by General McChrystal:
"A bit of dithering might have been in order before we went into Iraq in pursuit of non-existent weapons of mass destruction."
Amen.
"A bit of dithering might have been in order before we went into Iraq in pursuit of non-existent weapons of mass destruction."
Amen.

Truthstretcher - You were only commenting about the "comparison" because there were stories about it. Yes. Stories on Fox and Rush. Let me quote your "comment".
"Jet setting across the country for nights out with the wifey, and playing golf more times in nine months then Bush did in three years."
"Jet setting". "Wifey". "playing golf more times in nine months then (sic) Bush did in three years."
So, what "facts" were you arguing? You imply that the President is taking off more time than GWB did, when, in fact, Bush took at least 4 times more vacation time than Obama IN THE FIRST YEAR. You also failed to respond to the correction that GWB took 2 1/2 years of vacations in 8 years.
That's doesn't mention the snide "wifey" and other remarks you made.
Here's a hint...all opinions are welcome here. If you come and diss other users, make false assertions or are argumentative, expect to get it back in full measure. You play nice and factual, you'll be responded to much more friendly than you've succeeded in doing so far.
If you want to just spread bile, go elsewhere. There are plenty of right wing blogs where you can go to teabag yourself silly.
Assumptions. I'm not racist, I am not sexist. Although by reading your post Shortstuff you seem to be. You must think I am a white man from the sticks, who was born in the 60's. That is really saddening, I will pray for you.
Editor, I am educated on issues by many many differnt outlets, which is why I come here. With each post I leave, and your comments that follow, it seems that you only want like-minded people on your blog.
Bush did not do a great job. I am not defending his actions, or lack-of. I was making a comparison of the time off as there were a few stories about it recently that were published. Our country is needing quick actions, right now. HOPE & CHANGE, no tax increases on middle class, health care reform, transparency in government, the list goes on and on.
Jefe, for the life of me, all I can hear from "truthseeker" is something along the lines of "that black boy is in the White House and he's getting uppity....!!!"
I notice no one bitched about Bush spending most of his time in Crawford clearing brush, did they? Or using his "private plane" (as one idiot said over on the chron today) to fly around in. Or enjoying the perks of office. With wifey.
Now there is a chauvinistic term for you. Wifey.
Personal attacks?
Coming from this troll. Priceless.
Typical...
You can not argue the facts so you resort to personal attacks.
Dithering was used well, and in my opinion, as well as many others not strong enough.
This is what we get with the inexperience and lackadaisical leadership. He is so busy soaking up the perks of his new job, he can not find time to do it. Jet setting across the country for nights out with the wifey, and playing golf more times in nine months then Bush did in three years. Just saying that he needs to get off his and make an decision already.

Editor's note: Clearly this reader is a daily Rush listener and Fox watcher, due to talking point regurgitation. Here are a few facts:
1. Dithering - President Obama is taking heat from unnamed Felon Dick Cheney for "dithering" over Afghanistan policy. Interesting in that the Bush administran "dithered" with Afghanistan for 7 YEARS with no real policy. A request for more troops sat on Bush's desk for 8 months until he dumped the decision on Obama on January 20, 2009.
2. Jet setting and golf - Oh, please. Vacation days for GWB his first year: All of August and several other trips. Between Camp David and Crawford, Bush spent almost 2 1/2 years on vacation. So far this year, Obama has had one 10 day vacation and most of that was spent either at Teddy Kennedy's funeral or dealing with Congress.
Please provide for the Editor a link where you complained about GWB's 7 years of "dithering" and 900 days of vacation, I will withdraw the criticism.
Jefe
I hope he likes to swim.
That was mean and nasty. I should apologize for that.......
The old Dick is the front man for the previous administration, He is still wandering down the dark and lonely of trying the cast the Cheney/Bush years in a glowing light of public approval. He just can't accept the fact that a majority of the voters rejected the Republican party and their screwed up version of running the country.
I'm so glad to hear a professional say that. People sometimes have an idea that an evil person would look like some stereotypical tattooed person....but I have always thought Cheney just personified evil. It oozes out of his very pores.
The man is insane. HE would be the latest Hitler and the rightwing is too dense to see it...or to admit it.
Dick Cheney is evil and has no soul. I know that sounds like a judgment, but I have been in the psychotherapy business long enough to spot one, and he fits the psycho-pathological profile to a tee... only his "mass murdering" has been in an unjustified war, and he has absolutely no problem with it.
I have always been a George Will fan. Now, with the jab he took at that dick Cheney yesterday, I am even more so. He got him good.
I submitted an article in Time on Des's Chron blog awhile back on the results that legalization has had in Portugal, a very conservative country which still outlaws abortion except in extreme cases. In every facet: usage, treatment, adolescent usage, etc, numbers dropped significantly within the first year, if my old circuit board isnt letting me down!
Im starting to see ole Dick as one of those old guys who sit on the sidelines of society and dont do anything but bitch. No friends, no life, no interests...sad. Unfortunately, there are those who still lend him credibility. Personally, i feel he should be hung for outing Val Plame during wartime...thats just inexcusable. So much for the party of personal accountability.
Occasionally George Will does get it right. Later on in that same program he said that weed would be legalized if we were actually serious about ending the drug war violence. So on matters of war and drugs, the libertarian wing of the GOP might actually be proceeding on a logical course. Darned shame the conspiracy theorists, the teabaggers, the authoritarians and the Jesus Christers (as Gore Vidal called them) dominate the party.
