Ridiculous Republican Amendments to the Baucus Bill

As if any further proof were necessary that Republicans have no real interest in health care reform, take a look at some of the frivolous amendments proposed to the Baucus Bill in the Senate Finance Committee:

* Kyl 371---Prohibit the federal government's takeover of health care.

* Ensign 409---Transparency in czars.

* Hatch 511---Prohibits authorized or appropriated federal funds under the Mark from  being distributed to or used by ACORN.

* Ensign 543---Strike the word "fee" everywhere it appears in the bill and replace with the word "tax."

* Roberts 137---To prevent Medicare payment policies which discourage physicians from fulfilling their Hippocratic Oath to maintain the good of their patients as their highest priority, and instead encourage the rationing of health care.

*Roberts 144---To ensure that if people like the hometown hospital they have, they can keep it.

* Ensign 156---To ensure that the financial well-being of future generations is not compromised by the activities of the current generation.

* Cornyn 163---Ensuring seniors have access to physicians beyond 2010.

* Roberts 143---To prevent health care reform from being paid for on the backs of our most vulnerable and frail seniors in nursing homes.

* Roberts 145---To prevent health care reform from being paid for on the backs of our seniors.

* Ensign 155---An amendment to prohibit funding under this bill for ACORN.

* Kyl 126---Limiting the Number of New Federal Health Care Bureaucrats & Preventing the Rationing of Seniors' Care.

And the piece de resistance:

* Hatch 497---Add transition relief for the excise tax on high cost insurance plans for any State with a name that begins with the letter "U"

Bob Cesca sums it up:

"Further evidence that the Republican cheese has fallen off the Republican cracker. When they're attempting to legislate language from Frank Luntz and Glenn Beck, they are not to be taken seriously. They're the Cartoon White Guy Party. They're self-satirical. Negotiating with them is like negotiating with Woody Woodpecker.

No offense to the comparative intelligence of Mr. Woodpecker.

It's not that they're that dumb (although they are). It's that they think WE are that dumb.
Time to kick some winger ass to the curb!

Yu huh, they can too be that dumb.

In the immortal words of the immortal bard, "it sucketh mightily."

I read the LOas Vegas newspapers frequently and Ensign has told the paper he is quite proud of the amendments he proposed. I have to assume that he feels most of his constituents, if not all, won't really read them.

Hatch, hes just gotta be making fun of the system. He surely can't be serious. He can't be that dumb.

Maybe I was right about "governance". Maybe Republicans really do believe that is the person Sarah Palin hired to take care of her kids.

BIG laugh here.

(That man is a disgusting human being.)

AS my dad used to say.."Every monkey to his own peanut".

I just hate to look at his contrived grin week after week. He's just so smug. I hope he pulls a groin muscle.

Carguy, I didnt watch, or vote, but I figured I'd vote for him to keep him on so he can continue the sideshow that is the GOP?

I apologize. Perhaps I crossed the line. IF we do like them, we're no better than them. We MUST take the high road..........

CRAPPOLA......everybody, I mean EVERYBODY, you get ten votes by phone. Call in, vote for anybody below DeLay in points. Do it for...............the good ol' USA. :-)

Please, PLEASE, let's ALL call in and vote FOR ANYBODY but that despicable, two-faced, liar and political jackass Tom DeLay. ...
You're politicizing DWTS??? What next, having the casting staff pack the show with "loyal Goodman-ies"? Secret memos giving the pros a free hand to use "enhanced teaching techniques"??

As slimy as he was/is, Delay still did better than Ashley Hamilton. The women dance tonight!!

Ya' know.....that republcan "allegation" that democrats would control all the "health panels" and, accordingly, "ration or restrict" health care to registered members of the GOP......I know we said that was ridiculous. That would never happen. BUT.......

Perhaps we were too hasty. Shouldn't everything be "on the table" if it benefits the country as a whole. What's wrong with "you don't want it, you can't have it now." That could be a big savings......... 21% give or take.

I am glad my mother did not live long enough to see this. Every time I think the GOP has gone as far as they could, they bring up even more lunacy. I hope and pray that, other than the "21" club, the rest of the country see these people for what they are, self-serving, simple-minded morons who absolutely DO NOT give a shit about anybody but themselves.

With apologies to Des, there are two things that MUST be addressed today.

Presdent Obama's appearand on Letterman. I was not in favor of this but it was a rousing success. To see the reception he got and how well he managed himself...BIG HOMERUN. IF people would only listen to him and tune out the GOP blowhards, everythig will be fine.

And now, I know it's only been 7 years BUT, "Dancing with the Stars" is an American institution (stolen from Britain maybe but still).

Please, PLEASE, let's ALL call in and vote FOR ANYBODY but that despicable, two-faced, liar and political jackass Tom DeLay. Those of you new to DWTS, you can't vote "against" him. Just "for" everybody else. The best way to get hinm off is to vote "for" anybody below him in the points. If we could make him the first to go, that would be so fine. I hate to do that to Cheryl Burke, but sometimes in war, there is collateral damage.

If you can't do that, boycott the show entirely to mess up the Nielsons. I beg you. Do it for your country.

Looks like the Republicans have been caught lying through their teeth again.

How about shortstuff 1: no funds, whether federal, state, or local, shall be given to members of congress, or sitting governors, especially those with R after their names, who wish to in turn give large sums of money to their mistresses and their mistresses' families; or who wish to vanish unaccounted for, whether in the domestic U.S. or in South America, or Europe, or any country in the world, for some bowchickabowbow. This is to include salary, benefits, or health care.
This is to be known as the ZIP IT UP STUPID law.

shortstuff2: if any member of congress accepts any amount money from any type of industry (insurance/healthcare/Focus on the Family, etc.), or a PAC with any ties, no matter how nebulous, to that industry, said member of congress shall be automatically barred from introducing or voting on any piece of legislation that would directly or indirectly be affected by their acceptance of such monies.

These guys are just puppets. They honestly do not know what they are talking about. If they did they would realize how ridiculous they sound.

These people are merely programmable robots sent out to spread disinformation. To wind them up, just give them a little money. Then they will say and do whatever you want.

* Sparkle--- Cease Secret Service protection afforded to sitting presidents.

These clowns are just giving their opponents more ammunition for the next election. If I were Ensign, I'd keep my head down and mouth shut.

Wow, they can't get off ACORN can they? The sad thing is these guys aren't morons. Morons are mildly amusing if you don't stop to think about the societal affect of having said moron in society. These guys are petulant children. I'm just imagining a kickball game with similar amendments. The idea is generally the same. If you pepper the better team with enough amendments then they will decide not to play.

How about: jefe1- amendment to not allow Senators with R after their name from any state beginning in T and ending in S.

That's an insult to woodpeckers everywhere.
Hell, these morons are an insult to America.
No, I'll revise that. These morons are an insult to humanity.
